Experimenting over the Summer

The Burning Bush, Alcohol based ink on canvas, was a product of previous Open House sessions.
Ashdown Arts Open House events inspire the use of new materials
04/05/2026
At the Open House sessions that I hold, I encourage other Ashdown Art group members to move out of their safe space and try something new from my stores. In 2023 we tried out Alcohol based Inks and Colorex liquid watercolours over the summer. Both these mediums provide stunning colours. With the Ink I have also tried Yupo paper which is thin, extremely smooth and is often used with these inks. I am also working on a large mixed media reflecting on the progress of AI which includes various obsolete technology items and current articles. In 2025 we offered Glass paint sessions while in the 2024 Open House we offered simple printing techniques and sunlight developed dye (weather permitting) .Open House, a painting completed at the 2023 event, was sold at the Autumn Art Fair that year and The Burning Bush also from 2023 is now in New Zealand. We are looking forward to the two planned sessions in 2026.
